Description

Tá eg verði stórur

‘Tá eg verði stórur’, meaning ‘when I grow up’, is an old ballad, re-written in Faroese by Jacob Hansen (1881-1967) from the Danish ballad ‘Sår er min hånd’. The ballad was written in the first Faroese children’s paper, Ungu Føroyar, meaning ‘the young Faroes’, in 1907. Jacob lived in Norðragøtu, and was called Havnar-Jákup. In the ballad, a child dreams about growing old enough to get to go fishing. Atli Kárason Petersen has made the choir arrangement.
