Beiggin

In 2004 my friend, Poula, was expecting her first baby. We were all so excited and happy, because this was the first baby in our friends group. My friend, Poula, was overdue with her child and on the 19th of May 2004, they were told that there was no longer any heartbeat Poula gave birth to her firstborn, stillborn son and they got to be together with him for a day before they had to say goodbye and bury him. This was a tough time and we all were in awe of how these new parents handled the situation, relied on God and put it all in his safe hands. This song was written some years later with Poula, Kári, the little boy and his younger siblings in mind.

I had not experienced to lose a child myself but tried my best to put me in their shoes and write a song about my friends’ experience with loosing her firstborn. Poula is grateful for the song and with her blessing I release it. I hope this song can be in memory of this little boy“Beiggin”, but also in memory of all the kids who had to leave this earth to soon.
